How are those read, is it safe if i let my brain off and absorb everything, or are those allegories and i should stay awake?

The tips and the position the Gods take and so on, are those accurate ? I.E. when i hear a God acted a way, i understand that really this God acts this exact way. I mean reading it like if reading real events happening?

From what i understood the events are not real, but the actions and positions the Gods take and so on are real, I.E. the odyssey & the iliad mimick how the Gods act. So it is safe for me to take them as work that i will use to better understand the Gods?

When i read a quote in there, should i attribute it to the God? Since many attribute Zeus a quote there .. as if he really said it.. i am refering to this one:
[Ah how shameless – the way these mortals blame the gods. From us alone they say come all their miseries yes but they themselves with their own reckless ways compound their pains beyond their proper share ]

Did Zeus really say it, or it describe exactly what Zeus would say? Both are fine, what will be different is if the author speculated, this only is fine if the author is accurate on depicting the Gods.

The thing about this quote, is a large part of humanity’s reckless ways likely come from the charts(fate) themselves.

It’s odly specific how one’s fate works in determining their behaviour. Even the tendency to blame the Gods likely comes from fate itself ironically enough.

Apparently it’s even more deterministic than that, if you go deep enough into astrology, numerology and palm reading, quite littlerally everything about your life including your “choices” may be written entirely.

Life might just be a “ride” the Gods put us on, and our “freedom” to determine how that ride goes may be an illusion entirely.

were the Iliad and Odyssey written by, or not written by, that Homer person who wasn't so great? a long time ago he was called out as being half-enemy, but things do change over time.

I am unaware of that, but If he is the one who wrote them, he is great. However, when you dig into anyone's life, you can always find reasons to call them not so great.

Sometimes simply surpassing someone's level will make that person think the other was not that great which proves the matter is psychological when it comes to great people. And what is psychological should be detached from what is factual.

This also applies to how one views himself. Many who did great things did not realize how great their work truly was.

Many brave men, during the act of displaying bravery, do not realize their action is truly heroic. They simply see it as the best thing to do at the time, but to an external observer, it looks heroic. I pointed this out in that thread:

So to say whether someone is great or not in an absolute sense is complex. For me personally, given that Homer produced such great work, he is indeed great.

There are many examples in history of people producing genius work and when looking at their personal life you will be surprised. So it is also a good idea to not put people on a Pedestal. But also give credit.

it's possible that info i had was old. it was stated a very long time ago, he wasn't from the area, he was half Yehubor and spread lies...

...it's also possible there's a "correct" version of the Iliad and Odyssey, or uncorrupted version, that he simply mistold or lied about, and there's actually a good copy somewhere. hard to tell. i'll have to read up on it sometime i guess.
