The Craft is a good movie. I like the witches in it. It is a great show until the special effects bullshit kicks in at the end....witches flying and levitating.....

but otherwise why not watch it? You don't need anyone's permission.

The Craft rocks! And I can't see the corny special effects, so I don't care. Lol. Although, really, cannot a witch levitate if she achieves a high enough degree of adeptness?

Ok, I see that this is a hot topic for some of the female members of the group. Seeing this I thought I'd pitch in on the discussion as a guy. I have watched the movie and admit that I haven't looked for any deep meaning. In terms of witchcraft however it was total bull. Seriously don't use it as a reference. Why you ask?
First the girls in the movie had no understanding of what exactly they were doing. Throughout the whole movie they'd just "make things happen".
Second: they got their powers INSTANTLY after dedicating themselves to some deity whose name I cannot recall.
And thirdly: said deity was supposed to be some kind of all-father of the fucking universe! I mean come on! Why didn't they just call it YHWH and let it be over with right there and then?

Again I'm not saying the movie is all bad, nor that there is no moral or advice you could take from it(I guess I just don't fall under the audience it was supposed to influence). Anyway I'm not saying you shouldn't watch it or that it's wrong to enjoy it. I'm just saying it's got very little if anything at all to do with what we do... Damn, there goes another novel.(Note to self: Make less lengthy posts)

Oops, almost forgot. As for the ideas and teachings I'd say they're wiccan rather than satanic.

It's a movie. I have a love/hate relationship with it, because I liked the story (read:fiction) and found it a fun romp. The soundtrack was good too. I didn't like it because at the time, I was a Pagan Witch (I never used the word Wiccan for my Trad, because IMO Wicca is different) and it made what I was doing a 'Trend.' It all exploded, and every teen girl with eyeliner and a crystal was a 'Witch'. I had an incense/soap/oil business at the time, so that was rocking, but it made me shake my head in sorrow that no one was willing to do the real studying or work that calling yourself a Witch entails. It was the beginning of the end for me to be included in the general definition of Pagan, and despite the media attention and general acceptance that was starting to happen (1995 I think?) I went Satanic, because back in the days when *I* was learning, the connections between Witchcraft and Satan were very clear. Yhvh was the ENEMY, and now there were (profitable Llewellyn) books pushing Wicca; jehova in drag.

Enjoy the movie, if you do, forget about it if you don't, but don't look to a movie, or any other form of media to give you spiritual insight.

I think what you r refering to is Nancy s (Farouzia Balk s)
line : "Manon " "If god & Satan where to play a football match ...."
I think The beginning of the film shows SOME true things
that CAN happen to people who start on the path of magick
Like suddenly some creeps appear in your life trying to upset
you (Fear & guilt)
But some things ARE exaggerated ;Great special effects (Nancy walking on water )..now WHERE did I see THAT before ????)
REALY ; DONT expect from the movie to give you "lessons in
magick " The movie was made to ENTERTAIN in the first place
& then give a " subtile warning " To would -be witches NOT
to stray from the "straight & narrow"
That said I LOVE the music & the film ( when you of corse
leave out the Xtian & wicca shitt)It DOES wet your appetite
to start learning about magick
I realy enjoyed it
AVE SATANAS !!!!

I really don't agree with you Ivan.

As a male I see that you are somewhat threatened with female power?

I AM A WITCH. NOT A WICCAN.

Not all witches are wiccan.

Don't classify us all as such. Your making a huge mistake.

As far as the satanic aspect....you must be blind.

There is no religious war, true.

But as far as the practice, which is what it is about, it is beautiful and not to be taken lightly.

Moral to the story????

When you add morality, you turn this into a very "unSatanic" view.

Or is it?

Who doesn't know that if you carry your power too far BEFORE you are strong enough to deal with it, it could overcome you and do you in?

They didn't just "get their power."
They practiced witchcraft.
And the Gods heard them, and assisted.

The God that the "dark witch" honored was "Minah"...or some shit.

She took all the power in, prayed for it, and was driven insane by it.
No morality, just common sense.....

Just goes to show that we all may have different ways to express our love of the Gods/Goddesses.

and whats the big deal with the female thing
i think that was a somewhat pointless post....maybe

Hi Roxy, nice picture on the profile by the way....

He may or may not have a problem with powerful females....who cares. I certainly don't.
Just making an observation.

Wicca has power.
don't fool yourself into thinking it doesn't.

The people who made the movie, producers, writers, etc. are probably jews.

I apologize for any misinterpretation my post may have caused. When I mentioned this was a hot-topic among female members I meant that at the time of me writing it had posts only by women in it or at least the screen names led me to believe that. As for saying it was wiccan: no I don't relate the wiccan religion to the female gender in any way. I also don't think all witches are wiccan. Any guy can call himself a witch and any girl a druid if they consider it to be the correct term (this statement may be inaccurate. The titles and their use confuse me). I don't care. Also when I wrote about the "moral" I meant "what it tries to teach you" and if you say that it isn't correct to use the word that way- cut me some slack, English has NOTHING to do with my native language (what I mean is- English originated from Latin, I'm Bulgarian. The Bulgarian language was created somewhere in the second half of the ninth century and has been revised many times since then. About 80% of the very characters we use have no analogue in ANY Latin based language (not to mention the differences in grammar)). Furthermore I DO NOT feel threatened by female power. I do not feel I need to explain why. And no I'm not thinking you can't hurt me. I've found out firsthand that when girls hit- it hurts(martial arts and a friend who was being a real bitch at the time).
To all of the above I hope this clears up any misunderstanding.
But the rest: I still don't think that what they were doing in the movie can relate to us in a deeper tone.
Satanists can practice in solitude and still achieve a respectable amount of power. The characters in the movie NEEDED four people to have the ceremony to Menol or whatever his name was. And only after they did it did their power START to manifest(for the most part).
We believe (or at least I do) that the gods are there to guide us, teach us and aid us whenever the need arises. Not make miracles happen at the drop of a hat on our account.
And again I mention that they just "made things happen"! NO workings, NO effort, NO NOTHING. Just like that they'd make some obscure statement and/or gesture and BANG! It doesn't work that way.
Ban me if you will but that's my opinion and I won't change it until someone presents me evidence that it is flawed.

If you can still find inspiration in this movie and enjoy it after all the whatever-you-wanna'-call-it I've written then GOOD FOR YOU!
There's nothing wrong with enjoying something as long as you know it's flaws.

Don't worry about it, Ivan, (I know your not) it doesn't matter, its all good.

Your a cool dude n my book.

The movie was just entertainment.
I certainly don't follow it at all.

Hail Satan!
