I've been searching around online but all I seem to find was the stuff to do with he modern predictive use of the tarot cards and the stuff which claimed to explain spiritual symbolism was of just a load RHP 'morals' and things like that...

Since the most popular sources, like Waite are RHP corruptions, you're not really going to find anything that's not corrupted. If I were you, I'd just go to some second hand shop and pick up some cheap mainstream book on the Tarot and filter through the dross.
