Sigils!

I have questions of curiosity.

I love doing renditions of tribal and symbolic art. But I've always been cuious as to doing tribal modifications of our demons sigils. Is this a highly frowned upon action? Does it hold the same power as original sigils do? Can edited forms of sigils go on people and cars?

I don't think it's frowned upon but, If Sigils are altered they won't have the same power as the originals do.

Michael, firstly I commend you for coming here first before tampering with the Sigils. Secondly, your question is one on which several possibilities are possible.
I'll discuss them all to the best of my knowledge, as I am well versed in the nature of sigils.
1. It might not work. This is because the sigils shape and form are imprinted into the astral, and changing them would need to reimprint that new sigil into the astral, which will cost millenia to achieve the same effectiveness and strength.
2. It might work, but only for you. Making the new tribal sigil will still, in your mind, be the same sigil. Using computer examples: it's like making a shortcut in your mind to the sigil, but changing the shortcuts name. The front might be different, but it will still direct your mind to the same program, making it as effective, or even more effective to you personally. BUT ONLY TO YOU.
3.It might lose all of its power altogether, as some believe the power of a sigil is in it's intricate symbolism, and changing the symbols that have been charged over the aeons and making new ones for yourself will void them of their power.

I personally believe that the second will apply here, but I must still point you to one rule; Ask the demons in question first! Ask Lord Lucifer and the demons in question if they don't mind you tampering and editing their sigils. I myself have done so sometimes and they don't mind, Horus actually gave me some recommendations on changing his sigil. But this is a very sacred and personal thing, so treat it thusly.

I agree with Adam. But there is one thing he also did not mention (mind you his post was pretty much spot on). You said you do renditions and modifications. If you completely changes the sigil it wouldn't be much use, however, if you can accurately "decorate" it a bit, without changing the actual sigil itself it should be fine. I mean for example, my Guardian Enlil's sigil, with the anvil. You could do a rendition of that, where the sigil is the same shape, but there are extra little details to it, different colours and shapes on the outside. Basically what I'm saying is it should be ok, as long as you keep the Sigil recognisable as that sigil and rather than change it completely, just modify it a little bit for artistic purposes. I would not advise using it in ritual without the Demons permission first, but otherwise, there is no harm to it, just keep it respectful and relativily similar.

Certainly it can, if done well I'm sure it would be pleasing to the demon you model the sig after. Demons love their sigils drawn, if you decide to put a twist on one of their sigils, i'm sure they would love it. The Gods are definitely big lovers of art, sometimes they even assist in artwork.

Depends on how much it is altered. Honestly, just because they are altered, doesn't mean they necessarily lose power.You have to use your intuition for things like that. A decent adept can usually look at runes and feel whether or not they have power. Same with sigils, whilst altering and drawing the sigil, try to feel what alterations would take from it and what would not.

You might be able to get a Demon to help you, I've had them draw through me before when I've channeled demons. If you experiment enough, something will work.
