I was doing research on sowilo and I came across a few pages that said it was an air rune. In my experience it feels like air. Wunjo feels like water, kenaz like fire, Uruz like earth.
At the time I was using those runes I was feeling each element in trance spending roughly five minutes on each. This was not invocation of the elements as that was not the goal, it was simply to deepen my understanding of them so that I may will them the same was as energy.
There were two effects of this that were noticable. 1) I could feel my elemental balance shift at times. While playing music my aura would pour out water. I would feel airy when changing subjects in my mind trying to find a good place to rest. I would feel earthy when work was long and unrelenting. I would feel very firey when doing physical exercise.
2) When using runes I would not only feel the energy but the element that they were composed of. Kenaz was firey, sowilo airy, wunjo watery and uruz earthy. Infact, my aura would feel completely like each element. It was quite a beautiful thing.
I do firmly believe that when we practice with the elements in the same way as energy we feel them more clearly and frequently.
I would not be surprised if some runes, like chakras have more than one element that comprimises them and they feel like. I have no research or proof to back that up, just an inkling of a feeling when I think of the rune Dagaz.
