Kosher means that the food doesn't contain food items forbidden in the O.T. For example, pork, or blood. And that it does not contain prohibited combinations, like dairy and meat together. Don't be fooled into believing that its somehow more 'pure' or healthy. For example artifical dye may be used instead of prohibited cochineal red dye from beetles. Hydrogenated oils may be used in place of lard. My partner told me that 'kosher' salt raises blood pressure more than even regular table salt, because its been heated off to get rid of 'impurities' but it also reduces the amount of other minerals, leaving mostly sodium.

  think about it why do packaged foods and water have the kosher stamp
though i have never been to the states my friends tell me some
supermarkets have an entire section for kosher foods.My friends tell me
even the veggies and water have the stamp on it.Is it just for the
blessings or is it to make sure that their fellow brethen don't eat the
poison that we are eating.I have never been to the USA am only telling
you what my friend have told me.Please forgive me if my info is wrong.
