Question #5377: Older Ones

Should we always respect those who are older than us? I don't understand what stance I should take on this issue.
For example, my mother gossips about me to all the relatives and turns them against me, causing me to be disrespected even by the youngest ones. Should I treat her with respect still, despite this situation? Or if I do a ritual of destruction, because I really hate her and hated her for years, will I still be the one to suffer because of financial dependency or blood connection? I know that sounds pathetic. But really, I can't stand this anymore.
