The most wise thing to do in these cases is to not start discuss on the first place. You gain nothing on wasting time with "npc".
I'm talking about experience, best outcome is that they nod and the next day they forget everything and you will find yourself fightning on the same topic again.
It's really good that you stand true to yourself and your ground, but do not waste braincells. That talking is gonna last few minutes, worst case scenario an hour. It's not worth, you're gonna just boiling yourself alone. Of course you have the right to share your opinion, and you can try. But do not push it cause you will find a wall.
Most of the times these topics are like a loop that come and go at dinner, in the living room and so on. You can stand your ground once, but it would not make any difference. The next time this topic shows up again they will repeat the same things all over again, cause they are "npcs" indeed. But you are not. So stay strong and move on. Your energies cannot be wasted like this.
