Mercury conjuncts mc. It also opposites and conjuncts other fixed stars. I think it is prominent. But I'm not interested in journalists, writers or anything like these.

If you're not interested in mercurial areas, don't do them, you don't have to.
Do what you want to do. I can't "advise" you on which other sectors you could go, because I don't have enough information.

Also observe what sign your MC is in, as well as the planets within it.
