Plotinus and hellenistic philosophy

What are people's thoughts on Hellenistic philosophy? I have read the 'Enneads' recently and believe it is sort of an exoteric philosophical form of Platonism which was Pythagoreanism. I am suspicious as regards to Hellenistic philosophy and its probable jewish affiliations or entanglement.

philosophers can build a new idea on the basis of their previous ideas. This does not mean that the idea was deliberately changed. it means that the idea can be extended.
