Hi, how are you? Well, I'm trying to understand/study astrology, specifically transits. How do I interpret them? For example, Mars is transiting my 8th house, which is the house of endings. How do I know if it's something negative or positive? From what I've read, I believe Mars is a negative aspect, but I don't know how to interpret it. Please help me.

This is the targeted message.
That explains a bunch on the interpreting of planets in the signs, houses, degrees, even some synastry aspects and aspects in your natal chart.
Mars is a lesser-malefic, I believe when it hits Retrograde. Im not an expert on transits.

Mars is considering in transits only when it's retrograde. This is because it's too fast to have a transiting influence otherwise. It is normally used in progressions alongside the Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Venus. You might want to read about methods of prediction on our website.
Mars isn't always negative. If you see some interpretations of Mars in predictive astrology on our website, you can see this clearly. Aspects will also tell you a lot about it's influence.
Mars in the houses typically shows where our energies are personally focused. In the 8th house, this deals with themes of the 8th house like sexual relationships, transformation, and financial matters that involve other people. Death is something very rare to predict, and requires multiple indicators. You need to take the whole transit chart into account, while also considering progressions, solar arcs, and planetary returns to understand what the future holds. It's contextual.
The only thing that will turn Mars negative for sure is ignoring where Mars wants your energy to go. This "negativity" takes the form of restlessness, a sense of urgency, impatience, sometimes even argument with yourself and with others, and in the 8th house specifically a preoccupation with how others value you.
The "negative" aspects are usually aspects like squares and oppositions, because they bring a confrontation with others. It's up to you to make sure that these confrontations serve your growth, instead of becoming destructive in your life.
High Priest recently told us how unchecked urges can either be the source of your self-undoing, or they can be moderated and channelled into constructive expressions that will benefit you in life.
Those pages I shared are the starting point for understanding how transits and predictive astrology work in general. Beyond that, what you can do is calculate past transits in your life and in the life of people you know very well. You then interpret them and link them to your actual lived experience and the lived experience of those people you know very well. You don't even need to reveal to them that you're studying astrology. You can just ask them questions about what has been going in their life, and then make correlations with the house transits and the aspects you calculated.
Keeping a journal of this that you can re-read over time helps to keep the learning alive. You can also write entries in your journal about your current transits and other people's current transits, what you expect will happen, and so on. Then, you keep taking note of what's happening in your life on a daily basis. Once the transit period is over, you revisit your expectations and compared them to what actually happen, see how well you did in your initial assumptions. Next time you do that, your assumptions will be more accurate, and over time you'll know.
If you have the opportunity, get readings from many professional astrologers. See what they get right, what they do not. This is another way to learn.
Once you've identified which professional astrologers satisfy your thirst for knowledge, check if they run courses. Then take those courses yourself.
Best of luck in your learning path!

Apologies if I'm being slow on private messages. I will get back to you at some point.
