Planetary alignment

Apparently this month there are some astronomical events happening. Meteor shower, Venus will shine bright, Mars will appear close and most importantly on the 21st of January there will be a very rare six planet alignment.

I would like to ask people with knowledge of astrology if this event has some real significance? Can we work with these energies and what do they represent?

Looking back when there have been such alignments, there have been effects on the geo-political sphere, progression of technology(Internet came into being as a result of these events) changes on the metaphysical-spiritual level involving the human being.
