Pendulum

Hi,

I recently tried to experiment with a pendulum, but it didn't really
work because of the following points:
1. When i ask it something, it doesn;t make a vertical or horizontal
motion, it kinda goes diagonal.
2. When i ask it something and it moves, it doesn't stop.
3. When i tried asking enochian letters it didn't respond at all.

Also i have some questions:
What is the best to use as a pendulum, i use a chain and a magnet?
Would crystals be a better option?

Does anyone have any idea's on what i could possibly make a pendulum out of?

Just recently i was flooded out of home and lost alot of my possessions, the main one being my alter gear, and my pendulum.
I've since purchased new gear, but i want to make the pendulum.. It just feels better if I've made it myself.. Sentimental, i know.

anything small with a piece of good string or nylon.

A medal or a bolt. Something that has a good swing.
