I'm determined to find a good OS to migrate all my Windows 10/8 PCs to.
No, strike that, the best OS to migrate them to.
I need to know ASAP the best OS to move to, and If this OS is infused with stable magick, then by all means, gimme gimme.

I look to involve magick with pretty much everything I do because that's how it was in the long far past right?

I'm more afraid on account of my hardware that has windows 10/8 than my other ones that have older systems like Wind-XP, Wind-7 and Wind-98.
I am a nostalgic man I will have you know, Fruitger aero, Y2K aka Wind-XP, Wind-98 etc, which is why I never upgraded any of that which had those operating systems.

Those Icons . . .

They take me back for some reason. (Also who is that guy who represents the wizard icon?)

Anyways, I really need the best option for my hardware that does have windows 10/8

I'm kind of in a hurry right now, my nostalgia can wait.

I prayed to the Gods for the best answer because of who runs microsoft and the plot behind this forced obsolescence.
(Also because I'm running out of time.)

I have taken quick glances at ubuntu and arch but never really got to know it, but I will post updates in a more appropriate spot.
(Are all the linux distros interchangeable?)

Please help.

I have been playing with some linux systems. They are not all interchangeable, I mean there are some major differences between different larger groups or categories like Arch based systems verses Debian based systems for example. They use different words in the code to perform the same task, so when you type something in the Terminal to try to do something you will not be writing the same thing. But in each of these categories, there are like hundreds of smaller versions that are descendent from the larger ones. If you just make a few changes or add a few programs, you can release it as your own version with a different name, so that is why there are so many names.

If you prefer windows XP or Windows 7 type designs and layouts, that is even better and will make it easier for you. Because there are many releases that look almost identical in many ways to windows XP or 7. Also some look very similar to windows 11, and many look just like Apple computers. It is not so easy to get it to look just like windows 10 or 8, but you can still get it close enough.

It would be easier to start with something like Ubuntu or Debian. Ubuntu is also based on Debian and is similar, but it might be easier for new people. There are hundreds of different releases that are based on Debian, so you could pick any of them and they will all use similar code in the terminal, so learning on any of them will make it easy to switch to another one. And since they are so similar, you can install and modify things to basically turn any of them into any other one, as long as they are in the same larger family. The differences are mostly in what programs it comes with, or what it looks like, and you can change all of these.

You might not like what it looks like when you first install it. I think many of them look bad. But you can install KDE Plasma, and then you download different extensions to customize the look of anything. To customize the look of the desktop, the menus, the windows, the icons, and everything else. It is very easy to use this to make all the menus and icons look exactly like Windows, especially older windows like XP or 7.

What I have been doing is using Chat GPT to tell me how to do everything. I tell it what version I am using and what I want to do, and it tells me exactly what code to write in to get it to work. This is easy if you are using the chat GPT on the same computer because you can copy and paste it directly into the terminal. Or on some versions the terminal might be called konsole, but it is the same thing. The screen that you write the code into. With the chat gpt telling me what to write, it makes it very easy to get things to work. And of course this code is only for installing some programs for the first time or making large changes. Once a program like an internet browser is installed, you use it easily just like any windows computer.

i would recommend linux. since its probably your first time, linux mint would be great, as its very stable and also compatible with older systems. linux is completely customizable because its open source, so you can set it up however you want. A lot of people are afraid of Linux, thinking that it's difficult or that things don't work properly, i can assure you that if you use these more beginner friendly distros, you will probably almost never open the terminal or worry about something not working. Most programs work on Linux and if u want to use windows programs u can use bottles, even games with work perfectly with proton that is directly integrated with steam. Very few programs require any tinkering or anything like that to work, and if need one, and AI can help you solve that easily.

here are some of the themes i have already done on my linux, and if you want to see more of what is possible to do with customization, i recommend r/unixporn

I have to choose between these three, Choose one for me
Ubuntu
Arch
EndeavorOS
I prayed to the gods for the best choice for all my win10/8 hardware because whatever you choose, I install on all that hardware that one choice, because I have little time after all.

There is a problem, they all contain over 500gb of stuff each, and I want to know how to move them to an HDD and back fast.

I forgot to mention I only have one free HDD because the others have stuff in them, I probably have more free ones but I don't have time to look for them.

Also, is there anything interchangeable between Arch and EndeavourOS?

Could distros like Mint and EndeavorOS be compared to starter saves?

Starter saves is where you would complete a certain portion of a game and then post that save file for download.

Use a virtual machine program like Virtual Box. This allows you to make a small partition on your HDD where you can install another OS. So you can install whatever linux version on there to try it and see if you like it. If you don't like it, you easily erase the virtual machine image then try the next one. You don't need to erase your HDD or get another one just to try these.

Neither of these have the retro renaissance vibe you showed on the picture but I can say that Endeavour OS is a solid choice, I have used it many times in the past.
Endeavour os is basically the same as arch but customized a bit, it uses the same package manager and such.

I would never choose Ubuntu, instead use Mint. Mint is based on Ubuntu but better.
So a choice you should make is either Mint or endeavour OS. It is a bit different to use a cutting edge distro or a stable distro, depends on what you want to do, I can recommend Mint however, as a start, it's more stable and less prone to errors, although I didn't have problems with Endeavour Os either, but it's less likely that things will brake on Mint. The dark side is that you get older updates of software in the main repository, but often you can install the newest update from the software's website. You can use the xfce edition for a kind of retro look (not the same vibe you shared though) and Endeavour OS have multiple selection of desktop environments as well.

Most of the command line programs (AKA cat, cd, cp, mv, rm, etc...) are the same for all distros, except the package manger.

These are essentially the same, just with a different hood on top...
