I know this probably isn't something that happens, or at least in a negative way, but I have heard if you become a Satanist there is a chance you will get possessed and you will change as a person. Also, a friend told me to become a Satanist, you will pick a “guardian” demon. is this true? Thank you for your time, I appreciate it.

You will not get possessed; the gods are NOT anything like the judeoxian faiths would have you believe.

You may change, but that's because Spiritual Satanists work to develop and better ourselves, and empower ourselves as well. In no way will you be forced to change.

And no, you don't pick a guardian demon (god/dess), but you may get one later on.

No don't listen to the bullshit people tell you. They're most likely Christians and they say that to scare you to not become a Satanist. People who get possessed don't know what they were doing, plus they weren't Satanists. As for the Guardian Demon, no, you don't pick your Guardian Demon.
