Need help with familiar

Lately ive been craving to have a familiar really bad. but i live in an apartment with strict parents. I have a spot in my balcony which could be used for placing a birdhouse but thats way too expensive. Was thinking maybe a bird like a crow or raven. But still parents will be really annoying about it. I need guidance on how to attract the proper familiar and how to exactly take care of a bird familiar and stuff. I was also thinking maybe it could build a nest somewhere near and come visit me and maybe i could take him in the house when the weathers too harsh.

yes i thought the same... better work on being independent for now.
