Names that end in "el"

xtianity says that "el" means "of god." Since God does not really exist what does "el" really stand for? (example: Azazel)
 
I'm not sure, but something you need to remember is that "Azazel," and many of the names listed on the JoS website, are Jew-given names. Azazel's original name isn't Azazel, it's Utu. Then there's Shamash, Apollo, etc.
