Hatha Yoga is a series of exercises, mainly stretches one does to keep fit and to manipulate the spine. These are called 'asanas' and differ from regular exercises in that there is no pushing one's self or straining, like there is in contortion, or other sports that require flexibility.
The asanas I listed on the JoS yoga page
http://www.666black sun.com/Yoga. html
are basic.
Normally a practitioner chooses his/her asanas and puts together his/her own program. Each session should include in order- standing asanas, foreward bends, backward bends, side stretches, twists, and inverted asanas such as the shoulder stand, head or handstand, and plough. Breathing exercises should also be included in any yoga program.
It is very important to be completely still for 10-20 minutes following a yoga session. During this time, you will get the powerful energy buzz, which is one of the most important reasons for doing these exercises.
Hatha yoga should be somewhat relaxing. Now, true kundalini yoga is a bit different from hatha yoga, both in its effects and in the exercises. Kundalini Yoga involves intense manipulation of the spine, performed to the breath of fire, which drastically stimulates the serpent power. This is progressive and should not be attempted by anyone without a strong background in hatha yoga and yogic breathing. One also must be physically fit to begin kundalini physical exercises.
I will try to put together a hatha yoga program here online for people who are new to doing yoga. I know most of the books out there are confusing. As for kundalini yoga, this is the book I have used for quite some time:
Kundalini Yoga: Guidelines for Sadhana by M. S. S. Gurucharan Singh Khalsa
Amazon.com has it:

There is a DVD that goes with it and I highly recommend the DVD, as this shows the correct way of performing the exercises. My only warning here is these exercises are extremely intense and IMO, those who are new should do lesser repetitions and do them gradually.
Kundalini Yoga for Beginners & Beyond DVD can be found at Amazon.com:

I have printed the pages of techniques of yoga in the JOS website. If I begin by doing just those exercises on that page is that all ill need to do to begin with? Is that Hatha yoga? Is that the yoga that helps us advance? I'm trying to learn things I never had a clue about before. Thanks to all in advance. It was going to take too long to get myself to organize having to pay for a dvd or book online or something, so I decided to teach myself with the techniques that are displayed in the meditation section in the JOS website.
