I've found some tools that can help with sorting out one's psychology - those disturbing thoughts/emotions/visions/etc.
There in a book called: "Instant Confidence" by Paul McKenna. It has some good techniques in it. One could also try "Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Dummies". Both have helped me.
Things that I sometimes say to myself when I have one of the "events":
1. Asking myself: "What am I experiencing?", instead of trying to fight, suppress it.
2. Regarding emotions: "What is the message? What action should I take?"
3. Telling myself: "Just leave it be." Again instead of suppressing it.
The Runes can also help with this: Thorn, Wunjo, Kenaz, Dagaz and Eihwaz.
With Neptune being in Pisces now is an excellent time to work on one's own psychology.
I use energy programmed with "In a positive and healthy manner for me this energy is improving my psychology."
