Why do they offer sacrifice in the Iliad to Apollo ? I understand that to quell Apollo's wrath they need to give the Trojan priest back his daughter and give offerings; however, why a "hecatomb"? The gods frown on sacrifice of flesh in their name; perhaps I'm missing symbolism.
 
it may be allegories but still love the book though odyseus herculese had an image to hecate when i first started paganism
