The same myth of parasivanic chaos appears in many mythologies under different names.
To the Hindu, it was Kali, as they have the tendency to personify everything, hence the thousands of Gods as opposed to tens.
To the Germanics, it was primordial ice, because that would be closer to something they can relate to.
Myths are often brutal, extraordinary etc. for the clear purpose of being memorable. They should stick with you for lifetimes.
While there is obviously some difference, in part due to different nations focusing on different things (higher affinity to certain Gods, elemental nature of a people, chart elements of said people, etc.), but the core ideas were the same, as they were all analyzing reality.
