How do I start?

Hey all,

I joined this group recently after checking out some of the Joy of Satan literature and finding it very interesting. I've been a strict atheist since freshman year in high school, and I have opposed the ignorance and hate of the Christian "faith" vigorously during this time. However, I truly hope that Spiritual Satanism will guide me to a Creator that actually cares about humanity.

So, what are the first steps I should take? The obvious choice is the dedication ritual, but I feel a bit leery of dedicating my soul to a being that I have never seen or spoken to. I know it sounds ridiculous, but is there a way to ask a demon (or Satan, though I imagine He's very busy) to talk to me? I'm a complete rank amateur in anything spiritual, so some newbie guidance would be much appreciated.

Welcome, first off...
Second, that's understandable. You don't have to do the dedication ritual immediately, it's sort of a formality, well, it's more than that but.. you should be ready when you do it..
But, if you're SERIOUS about being a satanist and it's ABSOLUTELY something you want and are going to do then you could try summoning a demon- follow the basic summoning ritual on JoS but if I was you I would state your intentions before hand as well. That you're not dabbling or just looking for a scare or anything, you just want a little confirmation. Anyway, try that out. Be careful and good luck...
Though like I said it's much better to dedicate and then try a summoning.
And really, there's no real first steps. You should study, study as much as you can, read the ENTIRE JoS, (if you're anything like me that won't be too difficult, haha) get all the info you can but be sure it's real and true. Learn all you can, I even took notes in the beginning. Ha. Power meditate. You can try rituals.
I'd learn as much as you can before you get into summoning demons and whatnot.
Now I'm just rambling... but anyway, good luck, hopefully someone can give better advice than me x)

<td val[/IMG]Thats awesome you have the same exact story i did (same year in high school too)along with summoning demons you may want to power your astral senses either by opening them or simply by taking in energy and focusing on the chakras which hold the senses (third eye, 6th chakra, crown, throat, )and you may even want to look up the other minor chakras in your head to focus your attention on. Although ive never seen a demon (due to lack of theses senses) i already know satan has done much for me in a different way, without the use of my senses.-i was a bit emotionally imbalanced so when i got mad... I GOT PISSED WITH FUCKING FLAMMING FURY.. when sadness hit me.. FUCKING INTENSE DEPRESSION. moral of the story is i had thoughts in my mind, several days after the dedication that caused me to do way different things at my unfortunate situations all i had to do was listen...

Before you think of the dedication ritual you should read some about Satanism and so on. Then read a bit about Father then think it over if you really need to summon him or not. Then Choose if you should go though the ritual.
