I haven't tried it too many times but the one time I did and achieved the trance was laying in my backyard on my hammock during the day. I did times breathing, 4 seconds inhale, pause 4 seconds, exhale 4, pause 4, rinse repeat and imagined myself climbing down a ladder in the blackness of my mind. took about 15 minutes until I got into it, which was an interesting experience. it was mainly just total concentration and a feeling of being shrunken down and perceiving the outside through your body, like a different perspective. unfortunately before I could get over how cool it was that I went into a trance and begin doing workings, my obnoxious stoner neighbors made a loud noise and it RIPPED me out of the trance. that's the only way I can really describe it, I felt like I got punched in the heart it was physically PAINFUL being brought out of a trance that fast. so maybe try what I did but so it somewhere where you know you aren't going to be disturbed! it's not easy but it's not super hard either, just try it you'll get it.
