Better Identification of Viking Corpses Reveals: Half of the Warriors Were Female

Shield maidens are not a myth! A recent archaeological discovery has shattered the stereotype of exclusively male Viking warriors sailing out to war while their long-suffering wives wait at home with baby Vikings. (We knew it! We always knew it.) Plus, some other findings are challenging that whole “rape and pillage” thing, too.Researchers at the University of Western Australia decided to revamp the way they studied Viking remains. Previously, researchers had misidentified skeletons as male simply because they were buried with their swords and shields. (Female remains were identified by their oval brooches, and not much else.) By studying osteological signs of gender within the bones themselves, researchers discovered that approximately half of the remains were actually female warriors, given a proper burial with their weapons. It’s been so difficult for people to envision women’s historical contributions as solely getting married and dying in childbirth, but you can’t argue with numbers—and fifty/fifty is pretty damn good. The presence of female warriors also has researchers now wondering just how accurate the stereotypes of raping and pillaging actually are:Women may have accompanied male Vikings in those early invasions of England, in much greater numbers than scholars earlier supposed, (Researcher) McLeod concludes. Rather than the ravaging rovers of legend, the Vikings arrived as marriage-minded colonists. In many ways, this discovery is well-timed with the recent uproar over Thor becoming a title for both sexes instead of an exclusively male name. Fingers crossed this means that pop culture could start including more female warriors than just Sif and Lagertha (from The History Channel’s Vikings, above). Just so long as they’re not wearing boob plate armor.Because, as we’re always re-learning, women have always fought.

As I recall viking children were taught to fight by their mothers first. Their mother was always their first combat instructor before the Vikings grew up to fight for their people and culture.
If half of their warriors were female that means they were ALL warriors, men, women and children. That's excellent! THAT'S how a society should raise their children!I always said that the best thing you can do to raise your kids is to teach them how to fight and train them as warriors!
The Vikings had the same idea!

Right, because females have the same physical strength as males... Get real. 50/50 to me means equality bullshit. Anyways...I'd love to check out this study.

YES it is possible for a woman to match a man. They d physicly not be stronger but the spirit can add up in that a lot.

Sometimes it still is hard for the woman but practice makes perfect.

I bet the vikings were no different. And even for a woman it would be a good idea to become a warrior especially in this era with all the rape going on.

And your posts have lead me to believe that you like to spew nonsense with out support. In general women are not as physically strong as men. Why you are trying to convince me otherwise, I don't know why.

I'm not trying to convince you of anything. You just flat out attacked the original poster for pointing out that both Viking men and women actually fought. You trying to tell me that women shouldn't learn to fight to fend off rapists?

Fake Name, obviously arguing with this person is a complete waste of time. They refuse to listen to reason, and are just being rude, when it has been said SEVERAL times that we should avoid infighting.

An argument is not infighting. Physical and spiritual attacks are infighting.

Light_Algur has been here for a while, he shows up a lot on the prophpbb forum. And I think he's right. They're weren't soldiers/warriors of women, though they might have trained the women. Spartan women were trained, but didn't fight. You're getting too butthurt here. Light is a cool guy.

No need to vouch for me helionjovesson. Let them show their true colors.

Now, that 50/50 were men and women I am uncertain of. Yet I am certain there were many women in viking battles. The Valkyries. Instead of just looking at the obvious, a "I am smart and therefore correct game" has gone too far.

Ever read about the Third Sex people? They are known to be great warriors, both women and men. As they are created as such and are warriors by nature. Let alone, we all are in one way or another.

The Valkyries are known as the greatest female warriors, maybe this is what Fake Name mentions? Though, I do not remember which HP wrote about them, my guess is on Forums Contributor anyhow.

Instead of doing some simple research here in JoS or other valuable sources, ya'll could have spared precious time. Or use plain logic in this area if you of course have the knowledge too.

Men in general are physically stronger, but ever heard of individual bodies in both sexes? Which have been stated thousands of times. You have women who are more masculine and men who are more feminin. Vica versa. I am a man, but feminin, yet very strong.

You have also different martial arts for differents types of bodies, which are created and customized to be beneficial to our nature.

Now, can someone use enough logic to see what I am addressing?

Male or female, what have you. Can be a great warrior. Both in spritual and physical battle.

Hail Satan!!!

Okay, thank you for showing me a source to look for; a clue about what this SJW is saying. I have long been waiting for it.

Women can't fight? Uh... have you ever heard of Ronda Rousey? XDThough i disagree with the OP a bit, IMO the most scared place for a Women is providing the future for our race as a mother. Saying Women cant fight is fucking idiotic.

The Valkyries are mythological female warriors (daughters of Odin) who would chose the worthy slain warriors and bring them to Valhalla.

Taol_van_sherwood. Yea i know what you mean they are filled pure muscle that they actually lack speed.
if you take a look at bruce lee he maybe small but hes super fast and with technique theres no stopping that.
but then again if your small and dont know how to fight and you pick a fight with a big muscle guy Chances are you are goin to get a serious ass whooping.haha

Marchosias (a true female warrior demoness) taught me a long time ago that in a battle between warriors, the main goal of a warrior is to deprive the other warrior of his ability to be a warrior not necessarily by being "stronger", but by technique and how you use your sword or weapon and MIND.
Here's a story:I asked Marchosias to help me in a sword fight in school with Styrofoam swords with a competition during history class. The main goal was to get as much paint on your opponent as possible with your sword, even though I didn't get first place (paint BS) I literally blew away every of my opponents swords away (one of them being a big buff football jocky) with a simple flick with a powerful force that magically came from nowhere. If it were a real fight I would've killed them immediately before they could retrieve their swords but unfortunately this was against the rules :(
Butthurt I was, but I learned that I actually won those fights in real terms as by being able to make my opponents lose their swords during fight they were a warrior without a weapon which is disgraceful to lose. Then after this day my mom bought me yellow flowers for no reason and placed it on top of Marchosias's sigil case.
So before anyone says women can't be warriors, it's not about body shape, it's about skill, technique and using your mind which is the most powerful weapon for any gentile that both women/men are gifted and can excel with and a true warrior holds his weapon till the last breath and utilizes it in every way he can.
"Your weapon is the extension of your will" -Lucius Dragonwolf
Seriously yc28 stop being a roid rager, women and men can be excellent warriors and this is coming from me, a guy and your mindset has no place in Satanism just saying..

Hail Satan!!Hail Marchosias, a true warrior goddess!
