The doctrine that evil is ignorance, the cornerstone of Socratic intellectualism, receives its most explicit formulation in the Protagoras, where Socrates declares that "no one who either knows or believes that there is another possible course of action, better than the one he is following, will ever continue on his present course" (Protagoras 358b-c), and earlier that no wise man believes anyone sins willingly, since all shameful and evil acts are done involuntarily (345d-e).
The argument rests on a psychological premise Plato never abandons: every soul pursues what it perceives as good, and therefore wrongdoing can only arise from a defective perception, a miscalculation of goods, never from a deliberate embrace of evil as evil. The Meno completes the syllogism. When Meno claims some men desire bad things, Socrates dismantles him: those who desire what is bad either mistake it for good, in which case they actually desire the good, or they know it is bad and harmful, in which case they desire their own misery, which no one does (Meno 77b-78b). Desire for evil is thus logically impossible; what remains is error.
The murderer, the tyrant, the traitor are not rebels against the good but failed students of it, men whose souls grasp at happiness with broken instruments.
Plato deepens this from epistemology into pathology in the later dialogues. The Gorgias argues that the unjust man is the most wretched of all precisely because he harms the only thing that matters, his own soul, while believing he profits (Gorgias 466d-468e, 509e), a belief no one could hold while genuinely understanding it.
The Timaeus renders the medical verdict outright: "no one is willingly bad; the bad man becomes bad through some faulty habit of body and unenlightened upbringing, and these are unwelcome afflictions that come to every man against his will" (Timaeus 86d-e). Even the Laws, Plato's most punitive work, preserves the axiom that the unjust man deserves pity rather than rage, since injustice is a disease of the soul (Laws 731c-d), and legislates cure before retribution (860d-863a).
Vice, on this account, is to the soul what blindness is to the eye: a privation, a failure of the organ whose proper function is to see the Good. The human capacity for atrocity therefore indicts not some positive demonic will but the staggering depth of human ignorance, an ignorance so complete it mistakes self-destruction for advantage. Wickedness is the Good pursued through a shattered lens.
On a more linear scope, the more I get to know people, I understand precisely that Plato was always correct. Evil is not something of volition; it's indeed lack of understanding. It appears also, those who fail to attach strongly to the light, they then become evil. Delusions, assumptions, postulations, false allegations, and mischaracterizations, are what leads to evil: especially when these are built upon the foundation of literally not knowing. Not knowing the truth of a subject, makes you for example, want to act against it.
Not knowing the truth about the divine, or the Gods, or other people, or anything in this life, can lead to evil; people don't fundamentally want to be evil besides some extremely far gone cases; these far gone cases, are unironically, working in the path of their own self eradication as well, as evil past a point is only a destructive and self destructive mechanism (Izfet).
Therefore, the degree of evil, is correlated with one's distance from truthful knowing.
Further, I have concluded that in life, when you are not understood (or cannot be understood) you will also be targeted by evil. People who were not understood were the targets of the witch trials, from people that did not understand spirituality or the Divine and stayed insistent to label their ignorance as "Good" and pursue it, losing track that what they were doing was truly ultimate evil.
I will continue this work by the Golden Book, in which humanity will have a clear path of return, same as the Rituals. I believe fondly the day will arrive where all humans will be, or at least most of them, aligned to good and that evil will drastically minimize, because people will act on their most excellent interests.
I do this and all matters will eventually resolve themselves; through the hands of actions and the great carriers of the knowledge forward in time. Have faith in humanity and do not desert them. Above all, in the context of whatever is going on with the world, do not desert yourself, because they have deserted their own selves: Ignore them and carry forward the Great Work which Zevism represents.
Believe not in Izfet, ignore it and march forward, as even it, serves the plan of evolution of man. Believe only in Theophoric powers and Ma'at, carry forward steadfast in the Divine Plan and have no fear; as Izfet shows up from the sides, shine the power upon it, crush it and move on.
The Divine Plan for their rectification and upbringing was, is and will be ongoing even at their darkest times, where nobody believes in anything anymore about the potential of man.
It is upon us and currently can continue in unprecedented extents. Now, it's more visible than ever; you're the first receivers of a long aeonic work.
