Goetia is a Christianized, medieval layer built over much older spirit traditions, and that the 72 sigils/names we now use are filtered through that framework. If that’s true, why are we still treating these sigils as sacrosanct when their structure and naming look like a very specific medieval Solomonic system, not a unified ancient tradition?
If we’re actually trying to recover or reconstruct ancient practices—Hellenistic, Egyptian, Mesopotamian, or whatever —why are we using a sigil‑system that clearly emerges from a late medieval Christian Solomonic framework, complete with rosy‑cross templates and planetary/Enochian‑style tables?
The 72 Goetia sigils look like a highly stylized, internally consistent system—often derived from name‑letters, planetary squares, or other cipher‑like methods. If they’re that engineered, why are we not treating them as a specific medieval system rather than as universal ‘ancient spirit seals’? And if they are corrupted, why not question, experiment with, or even craft new sigils that better reflect older cosmologies (e.g., Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Hellenistic) instead of defaulting to this one template?
These are just honest questions
