Although it came from Romans, it's used in their bible to mean "non-Yehubor", as a Latin translation of the Greek word "ethnikos", which is in turn the Greek translation in the septuagint of the hebrew word "goy" which was used for all non-Yehuborim regardless of race. Everyone who isn't ethnically Yehuborim is a Gentile, including Whites, Blacks, Asians and others.

That is an interesting point. To compare in another language, I looked up gentile in the lojban dictionary, and basically it said 'non-Yehubor'. Results in a Sanskrit search did not result in a hit. Why is there this term? And why not a term for someone who isn't Inuit? The "non-inuit'. I never have heard of such a term.

Humanity, human beings sound like great terms to use, general humanity etc...If one wants to avoid the 'g' word.
