Dreams and Astral Projection

How can you really tell if you're dreaming or in the astral plane? Is it possible to astro-travel even though you don't intend to do so? Are there meanings to reaccuring and continuous dreams? Can you actually die if you die in your own dreams? When you're astral traveling, is it true that your body has become vulnerable and "others" can take it? If that's true, what becomes of your spirit? Does it stay in the other world? Is it able to come back to the human world?
