Greetings brothers and sisters! Because it’s October already and we’re getting close to Halloween and Día de Muertos, I drew Mictlantecuhtli, the Aztec god of the underworld. According to tradition, he sprinkles cempasuchil (marigold) flowers to guide deceased souls. I haven’t seen many modern drawings of him, so I based my work off of the Mesoamerican codex ‘the Borgia codex.’ There’s still a lot of misinformation about the meaning of the regalia, the symbolism, ex.
