I need more calcium in my diet (I really don't get a lot). What foods would be best for that, high in calcium? I know that supposedly milk is, but I thought I read somewhere that the body can't really absorb it all that well (could just be because of pasteurized and whatnot), so I'm curious what other foods are high in calcium that the body can absorb well.

Ginger has a lot of calcium. I every day make lemonade with honney, lemon, orange and ginger.

Hello brother,I am interested where you heard that thing about milk. But anyway, all dairy products are pretty high in calcium and are easily digestible.I have also heard that green veggies has calcium and vitamin K. Vitamin K possibly regulates calcium and bone formation in the body ( I say possibly because we don't know 100% for sure). You could always try to take a supplement, however you should be wary of what is in it. Supplements aren't regulated by the FDA and can abuse this. For example, a supplement can say that 1 pill has "X" amount of calcium, when in reality it has "Y" amount of calcium. HAIL SATAN!!!

Oh also on the topic of calcium, do not eat too much sour products. Some tend to take away calcium from your body as well. Oxaalzuur (oxalic) in spinach and a couple of others are responsible for this.

Whenever taking calcium supplements, it is important to supplement magnesium as well. Magnesium balances calcium and ensures that it does not get deposited in the cell tissues ad other places such as the pineal gland. Magnesium is very important.
The issue here with calcium rich foods, Dairy is the most calcium rich food accessible. Dairy is fit for consumption especially when raw or fermented, like with kefir and yogurt. Milk from pastured animals eating healthy green grass is the most healthy. Grass fed dairy that is raw is even safe and digestible for those with lactose problems.
If one is relying on plant sources for calcium you must keep in mind that our soils are depleted due to over working and industrial farming, Taking from the land and not giving back. This means that are crops are lacking in nutritional density and minerals. If there are minute amounts of minerals, such as calcium, in our soils, what do you expect to get from the plants? So best to opt for healthy dairy.
To ensure you get your efficient mineral content, grow your own crops or use a supplement. A good one.

Milk should not be drunk very often. I remember shannon saying it is a very yang sided rather then more in the middle. So you can unbalances yourselves if you have too much of it which can cause a slew of issues because it would effect kidney energy which is one of the most vital.

Alright, no I am not a member of that group so I wouldn't know.

I believe I stand corrected.

Either way, I don't feel like replying to this topic anymore.

James Marshall, I never mentioned milk being yang sided. That was Central Force and he mentioned about it having Yin traits.

Just on phosphate, without this important molecule we would all be very dead.

Phosphate forms the linkage bond that connects DNA molecules and RNA molecules. It is also the main energy source of the body, not in the sense of food but in the sense that phosphate bonds are high energy bonds formed on other bases ie Adenosine Tri-phosphate which are used and re-used as breaking and rebuilding bonds to use and conserve energy - studies that show the movement of ions in and out of cells should be scrutinised carefully as under the right conditions you can cause any ion or mineral to move in either direction but that doesn't mean it replicates the conditions of the human body.

Additionally, they may have been referring to phytic acid which is another manner which phosphorous is bound in foods and it tends to bind minerals in the gut, disallowing their absorption in the first place. Milk does not contain significant amounts of phytic acid.
