There are some amazing innovations we've had for years but haven't used (Because Capitalist-Communism SUCKS). Here's a list:

Project ORION - Not kidding about the name. This was the most brilliant idea of the Space Race, invented by General Atomics under Ted Taylor and Freeman Dyson, and approved by Wernher Von Braun. Unless we achieve the tech level of the Gods, and can bridge physical travel with astral travel, this is our absolute best bet for colonizing the solar system and close stars. The concept is brutally, gloriously simple: Chemical rockets are inefficient, and take up most of their launch weight in the fuel it takes to launch them. The ideal fuel for escape velocity, and rapid space travel, is tiny and compact, but possessing enormous energy. Enter the Atomic F***ing Bomb. The principal, which was tested practically and theoretically to work, is to have a very large spaceship with a very large hardened plate at the bottom, braced with shock absorbers. Chemical rockets take it a little way off the ground, then cut out. Then at a rate of one per second, an arsenal of 800 low-yield clean nuclear bombs are dropped and detonated behind the craft. The insane thing is because of its mass, the takeoff is actually more comfortable for the crew. But you want to keep well away from the launch, unless you want to be deafened by the voice of Thor and blinded by a column of atomic light.

Neo-Renewables - Our entire energy program is in shambles. Coal and oil are the Sick Man of America; dwindling in supply, crippling the health of both man and gaia, and ensorcelling politics with all the decadence and corruption of the Catholic Church. The ONLY reason they are still used is because all the infrastructure; cars, coal plants, oil refineries, etc, is already in place, and we're too f***ing ignorant to know how to put our labor class to work building new things. That, and conventional renewables are a joke. Their net energy yields (yields vs construction and maintenance costs) are abysmal, and nuclear isn't much better. Their original promoters had their hearts very much in the right place, but under Oh Bummer and the Democrats the whole thing has just turned into a subsidies scam. Now, we need government to kickstart large-scale industry. We need entrepreneurship to make it efficient and organic. Enter High-Altitude Wind. Conventional wind (though the windmills are kinda pretty) is a dud; the winds blowing near the ground are incredibly weak and sporadic, and the manufacture of the concrete bases of the things puts out almost more co2 than they save over their lifetimes. But at two thousand feet in the air, with something as simple as a small wind rotor stuck in a jet engine-shaped dirigible, the energy yields become unbelievable. The system is cheaper to make, easier to deploy, mobile, and many times more powerful than even coal. It is indispensable for developing countries, for developed countries switching off fossil fuels, and for military expeditions. Once we've used it to establish a better grid, we can get into the real meat: Thorium Nuclear. Conventional nuclear is vastly inefficient, and good mainly for making fissionable plutonium. Thorium produces almost no waste, produces no weaponizeable material, is nearly accident-proof, and has a power generation potential nearing the stratosphere. It'll take a lot of effort to perfect and deploy, but it'll be critical for the third leg of the Trinity of Progress...

Greenhouse Agriculture and Neo-Venatics - Mankind is facing the worst crisis it has ever faced right now, bigger than war, bigger than global warming, and nobody knows or is talking about it. It's called Agricultural Sustainability. The endless fields of corn that feed tormented factories full of beef are destroying their own soil. Nutrient levels are non-existent, with crops fed by artificial chemical fertilizers. But aside from the depletion of key petroleum products used in these, the true death knell is topsoil erosion: With no soil, crops can't even put down roots. Massive amounts of once-productive farmland have already been degraded around the world, and we're on track to lose almost all of it by the 2040s. To put it bluntly, if the status quo continues, eight billion people minimum will starve to death or die violently by the middle of this century. But we have the power to stop it. Applying the fonts of electric energy listed above will let us flip our entire agricultural system on its head: With enough energy, we can grow all of our plant food in greenhouses. The system would even be superior in terms of food quality - Every part of the environment can be controlled, eliminating the need for pesticides, GM crops, fertilizers that aren't pure phosphorus, and so on, as well as ending the tyranny of Winter on food. But what about meat, you ask? Almost everyone likes a good steak. This is actually the best part: With the United States no longer covered by endless seas of corn, the cattle, hogs, chickens, and other animals brutalized in factory farming will be set free. The country will return to nature, with biodiversity and the cycle of life and death rejuvenating the parched soil. And once again, this time with the power of the Electric age, we will be able to hunt. Family bands traveling in convoys across the road or air could track, herd, kill, and market all the bounty of Gaia Reborn, and on a very large scale. The meat itself would be of massively better quality, with all the health and vitality of nature running in the animals' flesh. And the life of mankind, set free on the open road, or concentrated in vibrant, glowing, culturally rich cities, would become even healthier still.

Apply all of these three technologies, organize people around them, lobby our despicable politicians and pseudo-"entrepreneurs" until their ears bleed, and I guarantee a golden age of mankind. And every year we do it is one more year moved back on the material-agricultural Doomsday Clock.
