After I consecrated my second altar, I placed my atheme in the center of the pentagram. The atheme was standing on its handle.
The end of the handle is rounded, not flat, and the heavy end is the blade, not the wood. There are no special divots in the top of the altar.
I'd like to post a couple of pictures of this, but the board isn't allowing me to post them.
