Void meditation as you’re trying to sleep can help you sleep a lot better, HPS Maxine wrote about this years ago

As for the melatonin, it doesn’t matter really. Maybe the gummy will digest slightly faster because it’s been chewed but it really just depends on your preference. If you have trouble swallowing pills then go for the gummy

I've taken melatonin gummies and they are effective. There are still side effects however. I don't know why you ate having trouble sleeping but common reasons are having dinner too late in the night. You should have dinner by 6pm. Any carbs after that will disrupt sleep. You should look at your daily routine as see what is causing you to be restless

You can’t solve a problem without analyzing the causes of a problem. Why can’t you sleep? What keeps you awake?

If the problem is health based (like feeling restless), the spleen 6 acupoint is known for being a strong point for the treatment of insomnia.

I have a manual on the vital points to cure something or kill someone. I took it out of the library because it was too big and did not fit. Your continuous replies on the subject made me want to search for it and insert it again there. I thank you for this even if it is off-topic.

Doing physical work or exercise that will make you tired. Don't eat too soon before you go to sleep.

Eu sou o pó, sou o tudo, sou o nada

you can also look into teas such as chamomile. Which for many is good for inducing sleep. But others such as Lavender are good to look into for simple relaxation which can help you. Try out different teas to see what seems to offer you the best relaxation. Sometimes finding simple routines to help you just learn to train your mind to relax can help as much as anything. Many minds thrive on routine and having that bedtime routine could help. Good luck.

Totally agree with this.

Additionally, I have had really bad problems with insomnia in the past which I have treated with herbal supplements and teas, so I will give some recommendations based on my experiences. I didn't like melatonin, personally, or hops, but they work for some people. Valerian is my personal favourite. I never needed the recommended nighttime dosage; it made me feel hungover the next day. I take around 60 mg (two tablets for "daytime anxiety") if needed for insomnia. (The point you can take here is, if something makes you feel bad in the morning, try a lower dosage, usually marketed towards "daytime anxiety") Lavender tea was far too much for me, also. I just drastically lowered the amount I was including in my teas, and it was better.
As for teas, it can be difficult to measure the dosage you're getting. I steep them for a very long time (around 3-4h) in a thermos.
You can find pre-blended teabags which makes it faster and easier, and usually they have good flavours! Look for ingredients like passionflower, lime flowers, valerian, chamomile, hops, lavender, lemonbalm.
Be aware of side effects, and don't take too much for too long. For example, when taking valerian, only do it for six weeks at a time, then take something else if needed for two weeks, after that you can take valerian again for up to six weeks.
You can find all this information by Googling the herbs, "how to use ... for insomnia", "benefits and side effects of ..."
Some things aren't good for everyone, so do your research, try different things and don't take any one thing for too long! Best of luck

You can try these herbal decoctions, they're from one of Carrie Chauhan's books (she's also an Ayurvedist), just adjust the measures and dosage as you see fit because everybody is different. Most herbs involved are Oriental herbs, but some are also Mediterranean, African and Western and the author was nice enough to give both English and Chinese names for the herbs, but if you can't find the exact herbs from a reputable seller, you'd be looking generally for herbs that calm the Shen energy, increase your yin reserves (for STAYING a sleep), and for mind-calming herbs, you'd look for those that moves the qi to pacify your liver and put out that excess liver yang. You should also look for herbs that increase your Blood (as in the energy, not the physical substance). Blood and yin energy go hand in hand.

For Calming Your Mind During Bed:

Ingredients:
  • Longan "Dragon's eye" berry (Long yan rou) - 3 tablespoons
  • Albizia peel (He huan pi) - 1 teaspoon
  • Reishi (Ling zhi) - 2 teaspoons
  • Water - 2.5 cups
Preparation:
  1. Place all the herbs in a non-aluminum sauce pan and add water
  2. Boil, and then simmer uncovered for 30 mins, remove from heat
  3. Strain and drink before bedtime. With insomnia, it can be helpful to have multiple doses in the hours before bed. Ideally, you should drink 1 cup 2 hrs before bed and then the 2nd an hour before sleeping.

For Falling Asleep:

Ingredients:
  • Albizia flower (He huan hua) - 3 tablespoons
  • Longan berry (Long yan rou) - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 1 cup
Preparation:
  1. Place the herbs in a mug
  2. Boil water and pour it over the herbs. Cover and steep (leave the herbs in the hot water) for 15-20 mins
  3. Strain and drink up to 2 times in the evening, add more cups if 1 cup 30 mins before bed doesn't do the job
  4. (Optional) you can eat the long yan rou after the steeping process

For Deeper Sleep:

Ingredients:
  • Asparagus root (Tian men dong) - 24 grams
  • Peony (Bai shao) - 18 grams
  • Albizia peel (He huan pi) - 18 grams
  • Salvia (Dan shen) - 9 grams
  • Dates (Da zao) - 9 grams
  • Water - 8 cups
Preparation:
  1. Please the Tian men dong, Bai shao, He huan pi, Dan shen and Da zao in a non-aluminum stockpot and then add water
  2. Boil the mixture, then simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, remove from heat.
  3. Strain into a large, 8 cup glass measuring cup. If the total amount is less than 7 cups, add water to bring it to 7 cups
  4. Set aside half a cup as the first dose to drink immediately and refrigerate the rest.
  5. Drink half a cup after lunch (or in the afternoon), and half a cup before bed for a week. After 7 days, discard any remaining decoction and make a new batch.
