Amulets

I realize that Amulets where used in Egypt.  And there is a ton of BS about them.  How were they really used during that time?

You can put a little energy into them, but really the main purpose was to make you look awesome (i think, i am not sure about this)

Amulets, can be used for multiple reasons, whether to just charge them with certain energies, used as talismans, accessories, decorations or have a certain purpose. Such as representating an important event; warning, protection, code, symbolism.

I believe the amulets the egyptians used at that time was used for many reasons like I mentioned above, but with a much more intelligent and deeper meaning or purposes.

I was able to form a theory on Amulets.  I’m still looking at it.  Amulets are very closely tied to Runes, "the words of power"; the Pyramid of Unas, the Book of the Dead...  Demon Bes was a common amulet i.e. representative God.  History writes it as amulets predating runes.  I think the reverse is true.  Amulets primarily held meaning based on their shapes which came from a deep understanding and affinity for runes and the “words of power”.  After the influence of the runes diminished, Amulets became more generalized in meaning by becoming representatives for the protective powers of various Gods i.e. deities.  Amulets predate Egypt as do runes.  I also think that Amulets were actually crystals which could be imbued with power for the dead to use, as a method of honoring them.  And then it changed into simple shaped stones that would be placed in certain areas as the body was wrapped up (mummified), originally in the areas of the chakras, even though the individual that occupied the body was no longer present.  Then the Amulets became more and more symbols and jewelry.  I checking out this theory.  I don't need them to look awesome Yog.

I haven't got into any cursing yet because I need to get a decent foundation set up in white magic first, so I don't waste time trying to fix stupid, mistakes and can clearly see reflected curses and so forth.  But, I can and will "fully" embrace it when ready.  And use it "fully".  
So, I don't understand the link to cursing and the amulet too well but I understand the pyramid crystals fairly well.  I just defined a pile of Egyptian terms yesterday.  I'll hopefully be done coming up with my first definition of what a amulet really is supposed to be for, this Saturday.  I broke through the wall of difficulty with meditation because my aura of protection has been helping me immensely and in several very noticeable ways.  So, hopefully it won't be long before I can get into magick.  I've seen a lot of relationship improvements.  My aura is working.  I was having major issues with meditation at first.  I got through that very recently.  In place of that I've been studying.  Things are going to go a lot faster now.
