I hope this is not considered a stupid or trivial question, I am being sincere. Every time I use a word meme from the Xian culture we live in I want to bite my tongue and say "sorry" to Father Satan. I still say "Jeez" when frustrated before I can catch myself. There are other terms that slip out but for now I want to talk about "angel". My problem is not the use of the word religiously or spiritually, I would never do that. The problem is artistic or aesthetic, like: "He/she looks like an angel", "sings like an angel". Terms from Greek Religion just don't sound right. "Oh she looks like a nymph/sylph/daemon/fairy". Deva might work but sounds like diva and people would think "stuck up". I know this is not a big deal but is interesting that we consider the words we use as Zevism.

ALTERNATE WORD FOR "ANGEL"
A lot of terms are like this. They are embedded in us for a big chunk of life. Don't worry about it. Everynow and again it happens to me by accident but after awhile it fades. Its like being taught a certain way all your life and then having to change it. Habits can take some time. But anyway its no big deal.

I am glad you brought this up. I am from the deep south & we have embedded in our language all sorts of phrases. ie: lord a mercy, child. I am trying to break my habit of using these sayings, but it is difficult. Every time I say one I also feel like apologizing to SATAN. Even xian based curse words I am trying to stop. Thanks. HAIL SATAN.

Aaah, I actually had this issue at the beginning as well.
These are just some stupid expressions that we've gotten used to throughout time, but I personally, as I find them -and they are- disrespectful I've stopped using them.
When I want to say that someone's really really beautiful I say he's a 'god' or 'godess', and I mean that he/she has the beauty of a God. And, I don't think that's disrespectful. :)
So, if you want to change these expressions as well, you can use the word 'god' but not meaning that the other is literally like a god but just that his/her talents etc are greater/better/more advanced than most people.
And I can understand what you mean by saying that you do not mean it religiously etc, as this is something that we've gotten used to, as an expression.
But to tell you the truth, nowadays, if I hear someone referring to someone else as an 'angel' I just think of these grey ugly creatures and think 'poor person' haha :P
