The thing is, I grew up alone until about age 4, no friends.

There is a habit of talking to myself, literally discussing every little thing.

Is that harmful?

Is that harmful?

Not necessarily, make this thing useful:

Nothing wrong with this. It depends what you are saying. If your mental habits and thought patterns are healthy and beneficial to your life, then you are perfectly good. If you have thought patterns like depression or anxiety, then these would not be good. This is just your inner voice and your mind which is healthy.

No, actually it can be quite useful to act as your own "soundboard" so to speak.

Sometime's it's difficult to see a line of reasoning with full clarity or objectivity until its spoken aloud or you hear it coming from someone else—as there is a natural detachment which occur's—and discussing thing's with yourself in this manner can act as a proxy to fascilitate greater rational thinking.

However, as other's have said, it also depend's on the individual in question. If you intuit that it's something unhealthy, you're probably right in your own individual case and should adjust accordingly, but there's nothing wrong with the behaviour on its own merit.

No. This isn't harmful. I do this all the time and just doing this helps me see and realize things i've been missing. This is actually what I used to get out of a toxic relationship. I would like, talk to myself and then, poof, It just came to me ig.
