Not the end of the world but it's better to do at least a few seconds of AC, just pass a light trough yourself and affirm that you are completely clean and pure. Doesn't take much effort.
I say that it's not the end of the world because you basically just nullifying curses that is already a sort of cleaning, however, it's also a form of warfare and destruction, which should be followed by a cleaning, to further help the Ritual, and to clean of everything that it may have left. It's like, if you can get rid of a bible by putting it on fire, but afterwards, you have to clean the ash it have left.
