"The pronounciation of such is /ˈwɔː.ðɑ.nɑz/." Or as we would speak it, W-a/o-dha-NaZ. The W or V, had become a S sound. Satanaz, basically. Or Satanas.

Q: If the original sound of S for SATANAS was V, then why do we during vibration pronounce it as a regular S or hiss?

Historians believe that the word ‘sigma’ comes from the Greek word sig-jo which literally translates to ‘I hiss.’

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigma#:~:text=Sigma%20%2F%20%CB%88s%C9%AA%C9%A1m%C9%99%20%2F%20%28uppercase%20%CE%A3%2C%20lowercase%20%CF%83%2C,%E2%88%91%20is%20used%20as%20an%20operator%20for%20summation.

Alternatively, the name may have been a Greek innovation that simply meant 'hissing', from the root of σίζω (sízō, from Proto-Greek *sig-jō 'I hiss').[2]

Within Greek, the name of sigma was influenced by its association with the Greek word σίζω (earlier *sigj-) "to hiss".
