Shamanism

What's your definition of Shaman?
I always thought of shamans as sorts of mediums, which liberate people from spirits, work with their interior animal totems etc. But I am always confused by the modern conceptions of this particular role

By historical definition, no. Western approach to shamanism is incorrect, it is not ecolatry and peaceful existence. Historically a shaman is who thought they had to appease entities to secure victories and to be protected from either their attacks or natural disasters. This is a primitive approach to the religion.

Additionally, many entities and elementals are dangerous, and you have to know what you are doing and any contact should be under Divine protection since they are not what humans are like nor they think like us humans, I am sure Priest Alexandros Iowno also talked on this topic.

Greetings,

Do you think a Zevist can be a shaman too?

Shamans are basically priests for the tribes of specific groups.

It was just a term Europeans came up with to generically describe the chief priests of Native American, African, Australesian and other “primitive” tribal societies that very often had and likely still have powerful spiritual leaders.

They pretty much follow the same Gods as us but in their own various ethnic iterations of them, perhaps some of these are mentioned in the names of Zeus page. The Rainbow Serpent is a famous example.

A lot of what the shamans know is likely kept secret so what we’re told in public about their “beliefs” may not be the full picture.

What’s interesting about Zevist/Pagan syncretism is that a lot of xians figured it out long before TOZ even existed, but they interpreted it all in their religious lens, nonetheless they correctly discovered the Pagan religions are all essentially one “religion”.

Some xians even wrote books about how all Pagan religions are related. It’s quite blatant once you know what you’re looking for, Serpent/Dragon “worship” being an easy example you’ll find in almost all Pagan traditions.

I think in some culture they call the most spiritual evolved person a "Shaman", but we're all Shamans potentially, and so are the Gods. I think it's just an evolved being
