This is basically what I meant in the topic. Your strong intention to destroy dirt and negativity, does exactly that. The light has properties of cleaning by itself, so use whitegold also. But fire as you have been using, with that visualization, can be a potent thing to use.

In the past spiritual path I was on, entering thoughtlessness was taught as the primary way to clean one's "subtle system" and chakras ("aura" cleaning was never specified).

I've been wanting to ask this for awhile and now seems like a good time.
If I do void meditation with the desire to clean out spiritual dross do you think this can be effective as using visualization?

And is it odd that since I have a hard time with visualizing lights and colors, that elemental invocation is magnitudes easier and more natural for me to attempt?

Use your intention with full focus to clean yourself. This is what HP is saying here. Even if you can't visualize it will work. With time obviously visualization will come but you need to practice it.
