FEAST OF FIRE COMMUNITY EVENT 2024

The long darkness gives in, the sun returns from its slumber, That means one thing, the feast of fire has come once more!

The return of the sun is also know as the spark of life, all life is invigorated, fertility & life is the result, this beautiful moment calls for a celebration. In ancient times celebrations would last until the sun rose the next day, dancing, bonfires, foods representing fire & sun would be consumed. Magick is also amplified on this day, a great day for workings and meditations. The feast of fire starts on the first of February, and lasts until the sun rises on the second.

Why don't we all come together and enjoy fun activities with all of our brethren in Satan, not only on the first of February, but lasting till the the tenth February.


ACTIVITIES

Below is a list of activities that we could partake in together, as always if you have idea's on other activities to do please share them down below. While there is a serious aspect to this day, do not forget to enjoy yourself and have fun!

1. Bonfires.
2. Cooking / Baking recipes specifically those that have something to do with fire & sun. Think of gold brown & round foods like crepes and pancakes.
3. Candle making & candle recipes.
4. Picture sharing, either found online or self taken.
5. Story sharing, a story to share around a bonfire.
6. Anything you seem fitting, or wanting to share.


WARNING

If you want to share pictures you made be mindful of the thing listed below.

1. Don't have anything in it that can expose you, so no people , environment or anything else that can expose you in the pictures.
2. Before uploading any pictures make sure you remove the meta data from it.


EXTRA INFORMATION

The feast of fire is also known as Imbolc / Candlemas.
Originally the feast of fire was celebrated when the sun was at 15 decrease of Aquarius.

Yesterday I made some delicious butter galette, very simple, blond as wheat, like in the story of "Little Red Riding Hood". If you'd like the recipe, let me know and I'll share it with you.

To all SS: using jos-astro.com and going through the days/hours, or an ephemeris, will show when the Sun will enter the degree for your location.

The recipe for the galettes :
200 grams butter
3 pinches of salt (very important for taste)
4 egg yolks (yolk only)
200 grams sugar
350 grams flour.

Mix the sugar with the egg yolks, then the salt, then the soft butter (but definitely not melted!), finish with the flour.
Mix well by hand and make a large ball of dough.
Don't worry if the texture resembles coarse sand, it's normal.
Refrigerate for 20-30min.

After this time, take out the dough and roll out with your palms, then with a rolling pin (your palms alone will do!).

Take a glass and use it as a cookie cutter to cut small circles in the dough.

And you can do as I do: a large circle to make a large galette to share, and small circles to make small individual galettes.

They melt in your mouth! Delicious even if they're not very pretty!


I don't know if it's appropriate or not, but I sometimes offer homemade food to the Gods when I'm doing a formal ritual, but I don't really know if it's appropriate or if they don't really care. But it makes me happy to "share" my recipes with Them.

Does the egg yoke need to have a certain texture by beating it before hand? And is there no oven involved at all? just mix it together, put it in the fridge, cut & eat it?

It does sound pretty easy, i am going to try my hand making that soon. Thank you this recipe.

Yes, sorry, where is my head!
Bake for 15 min at 180°c for the small galettes and 30 - 35 minutes for the large galette at 180°c.

Yes, the recipe is extremely easy!

To make the meringues, simply beat the 4 egg whites with an electric mixer and 2 pinches of salt. Once the whites are stiff, add 200 grams of sugar in batches.

Place in a small freezer bag and cut off one end, using it as a tip to make small masses, and cook for 1h30 at EXTREMELY low heat: 100°C.
Delicious.

The egg yolks are used to make the galettes, the egg whites for the meringues. No waste!

Today, on this wonderous holiday (btw, the alignment of celestial bodies must have been something else, or at least it felt that way) I met a gyrfalcon named Orion. I'm mostly an owl person but this raptor was really impressive. Looking forward to our next encounter.
