Before the Catholic Jewsuits arrived and implemented their slave communistoid system and destroyed and corrupted the original religion and spirituality of the Natives, Jurupari (also spelled Yurupari) used to be the main god of the Tupi-Guarani people of Paraguay and Brazil.
His cult used to be the most widespread and popular among the Guarani people. Jurupari was a solar deity, he was known as the "Son of the Sun". The legend of Jurupari was that he came to the lands and brought the knowledge and civilization to the Native peoples of the Amazonia. Aside from the Tupi-Guarani peoples, Jurupari was also a important chief deity of the pantheons of the Arawak people, the Mawé and some tribes of Colombia. He was sometimes represented as a huge serpent with arms (a dragon).
When the Jesuits arrived and enslaved the Guarani amerindians, they brainwashed them into believing that Jurupari was the devil and the monster that appeared in their dreams causing them nightmares and instead made up some bullshit non-sense about Tupã (which was never meant to be an actual deity in first place, but the divine force of the thunder) being Yahweh. This was in order to stop the Guarani from worshipping Jurupari and bring them close to Christianity. Jurupari became evil himself and the father of all the Anhangá (demons). The original Tupi-Guarani religion was completely destroyed and corrupted and replaced with a Christian-like system. The Jesuits saw the figure of Jurupari as an equivalent to Satan and wanted his divine cult among the tribes of the Amazon to be subverted and destroyed as soon as possible.
To this day, some tribes of the Amazon keep some initiation rituals called "Yurupari" which involve the imitation of the sounds of the ancestral Anaconda snake of the rainforest. These rituals were originally meant to honor Jurupari the god.
