Unfortunately for the masses, politics is a red herring; religion is the real problem.

There isn't a lot you can do at the moment. Many people don't want to have children because it's already hard to even survive, let alone have children. It's increasingly difficult to find a partner that you can build a long-term future with, with many relationships crumbling too fast because they're based only on physical attraction on one — or both — sides. Men get upset when their partner's body changes due to pregnancy, stop finding them attractive. Refuse to put enough work in child-rearing. Women have too high expectations and standards as well, more exposed than ever to what the pregnancy can do to their body. Many are, for good reason, hesitant to risk their body and 18 years of their life to having a child.

The truth is, nothing will really change until the world changes. The economy should offer opportunities and privileges for parents, mothers should receive more respect for their duties, men should find fertility and pregnancy attractive, support networks should be built to allow parents some breathing space.

But that won't happen until we gain more traction. All that can be done is continue pushing and working for more spiritually and wait for the other shoe to drop.
