Meditations When do I know?

AvatarAsk Zeus Operator1 min to read

Hello brothers/sisters, I recently started focusing more on mindfulness meditation, specifically chakra alignment. It calls for a cycle of 10 breaths (4-4-4), but I only do 5. I feel something in my chakras, but what exactly should I feel? When do I know I should move on to level 2? I stopped doing the full chakra meditation; should I do chakra yoga? Lastly, this is unrelated to what I've already mentioned, but I have a lot of difficulty entering a trance state. I'd like to know from some of you how long it took you to achieve it. This really frustrates me. Yes, I practice emptiness meditation.

Hello! You can give the Chakra Focus Meditation a try, under the Awareness Meditations section.

The bottom of that page/level 4 specifies for the base chakra as an example:

  • Feeling: Feel the physical sensation of the chakra, a tangible warmth, a gentle weight, or a low, vibrating hum at the base of your spine. Feel the energy you inhale as a cool or warm current entering the vortex.

  • Hearing: Internally hear the sound of the spinning vortex, a low, steady, resonant hum or a deep, rhythmic drumming that corresponds to its energy.

  • Smelling: Associate a specific, grounding scent with the chakra, such as the rich smell of damp earth, cedarwood, or musk. Inhale this aroma with your breath.

  • Visualization: See the red vortex with maximum intensity and clarity, a brilliant, living light that grows with every breath.

I also recommend resuming the Full Chakra Meditation, if it is too time-consuming for you you can also perform the meditation and breathing exercises only for the Chakra of the day each day (Monday - Ajna chakra, during the planetary hour of the Moon, Tuesday - Svadhisthana chakra, during the hour of Mars, etcetera etcetera) along with an affirmation afterwards such as the one shared by High Priestess Lydia Coventina: 'my x chakra is balanced, completely healthy, strong and functioning properly in every way'.

As for trance states, these can take a long time to master to enter a deep trance. You might need to do something relaxing beforehand to unwind if you've had a stressful day, such as listening to calming instrumentals or yoga, then void meditation or dot meditation. You can also find online or record an audio of yourself delivering a trance induction. I asked ChatGPT for a script (below) and you can record yourself saying it slowly for personal use:

Simple Trance Induction

Find a comfortable position, somewhere you can relax without needing to move for a while.

Take a slow, comfortable breath in…

…and let it out gently.

Again, breathe in…

…and breathe out.

There is nothing you need to accomplish right now.

You don't have to force yourself to relax.

Just allow yourself to become a little more comfortable with each breath.

Bring your attention to your body.

Notice the feeling of the surface supporting you.

Notice your shoulders…

…and allow them to soften.

Notice your jaw…

…and let it loosen.

Let the muscles around your eyes relax.

You can close your eyes whenever you feel ready.

Now simply notice your breathing.

You don't need to change it.

Just notice the gentle rhythm…

in…

and out…

in…

and out.

With every breath, allow your attention to become quieter.

If a thought appears, that's perfectly fine.

You don't need to follow it.

Simply notice it…

and let it drift away…

like a cloud passing through the sky.

Now imagine yourself standing at the top of a staircase with ten steps.

In a moment, you can slowly descend.

And with each step, you can allow yourself to become more relaxed and inwardly focused.

Ten…

beginning to settle.

Nine…

letting the outside world become less important.

Eight…

breathing comfortably.

Seven…

allowing your body to become heavier and more relaxed.

Six…

your attention turning inward.

Five…

halfway down now.

Four…

quiet and comfortable.

Three…

deeper into relaxation.

Two…

almost there.

One…

completely comfortable.

Now imagine yourself in a place where you feel calm and undisturbed.

It could be somewhere real…

or somewhere completely imaginary.

Notice whatever comes to mind.

The surroundings…

the light…

the temperature…

the sounds.

You don't have to make anything happen.

Simply observe.

And as you remain there, you may notice that your mind can become increasingly absorbed in the experience.

There is nowhere else you need to be.

Nothing else you need to do.

Just breathing…

relaxing…

and allowing your attention to rest.

For the next few moments, simply remain here.

[Pause for 30–60 seconds.]

And when you're ready to return, begin bringing your attention back toward your surroundings.

Notice the surface beneath you.

Notice your breathing.

Move your fingers and toes gently.

Take a slightly deeper breath.

And when you feel ready, open your eyes.

Take a moment to stretch…

look around…

and return to your normal, alert state feeling comfortable and refreshed.

^ Where it says pause for 30 to 60 seconds, you can wait for longer or splice it in an editor with empty silence for however long you wish to remain in the trance state (a way longer pause if you wish to accomplish something like astral projection or self-hypnosis, or splice it with audio of yourself delivering the self-hypnosis). Be sure to speak way slower and with more pauses, you can consider a text-to-speak or A.I. service for reading the script but I'm not sure if they'd be too relaxing.

I find doing this really effective and remember to come out of a trance very gently and give yourself plenty of time to return to full consciousness.
