First off, I mean no disrespect to any of the current HPs (because I am not one, and do not pretend to be an 'expert' or HP) and have nothing but respect to Maxine, who has been kind and helpful to me in the past. I just want to share some experiences, and it is up to the moderators who are here now whether to let this be posted or not.
I have been in and out of this Yahoo group over the years since about '05 (I think) but haven't lost the central vibe and message here. I think I have some things to offer, and whether they are of value to you or not, well, that's up to you. Maybe it's just my ego and need to share my experiences.
I have been 'into' the occult (that's what we called it in the 70's (I go back that far) for most of my life. Raised a catholic, I saw the BS early on, got punished in catechism class regularly for asking questions, which is definitely Satan's realm. Questions, study, keeping an open mind, science, and above all, EXPERIENCES.
That's what sets this group apart from the rest - experience. Not someone elses, although those are helpful, but YOURS. No one here is saying, "This is the way it is" but encouraging each and everyone to become empowered THEMSELVES.
It's not easy. It's not xianity, or wicca (barf) or newage (rhymes with sewage) where you read a few books (if that) or listen to a charismatic leader (and give him/her your money) and are SAVED; you save yourself. You do it yourself. Father and his Demons are there to help, to work WITH you, not necessarily FOR you (although that happens) but the ultimate thing is to be as strong as you can yourself.
Catholicism gave way to Paganism very early on. I was 10, and discovered Egypt. Ast/Auset/Isis took me under her wing early on, and I thought it was a secret game, where I made images and put flowers around her (there was no internet, just what books were in the library) when I found there were people who were like me. Not everyone believed in the foul nazarene, Jehovah (who is a spoilt bitter old fuck). Without going into too many adventures and traditions I got to experience, the time came when what I always referred to Witchcraft became this marshmallow soft BS that is basically Jehovah in drag and I was not one of them.
They wanted to gain acceptance. Books were actually coming out that advocated working with angels (Maxine has some great essays about the dangers of this) and I got to be really unpopular in my Pagan/Reiki circles with this - no angels in MY temple!
Which boils down to you gotta walk the walk. You can't dilute the path, and Witchcraft became Wicca, poisoned with 3 fold law, angels, fluffy bunny shit, and lame chicks claiming they were "Into the Dark Goddess" but didn't aknowledge the Horned God and they didn't have a fucking clue.
I quit that. I became an Atheist, allied with the LaVeyan type Satanists, but they became tiresome, with calling themselves Lord This and That, and claimed magic to be psycho-drama (which it can be)but obviously had never had a real encounter with a real God. Ast tapped me again and pushed me in a very embarrasing and harsh dream to "Walk the walk! I can't hand it all to you!"
JoS gives it to you undiluted. These are the meditations that WORK. With practicing these meditations, I got far more progress than I did in from the crap published in most popular (Llewellyn) books. I get constant reinforcement in how my life has improved, and I am still learning.
The war is real. Even if you never encounter an angelic attack, you are constantly attacked by the media that behaves as though xmas, easter, etc. is the norm. Stores closed on Sundays, people at work getting Sundays off; businesses closed on Sundays, the stupid fucks who know nothing of history who spout nonsense about "Jesus is the reason for the Season" Bullshit! It's our duty to stand up and NOT say "Merry Xmas" back to customers (if we are working in that environment) and take a stand for Father. I did this recently this easter (Ostara) season, in the shop I work where people had the gall to ASSUME I thought like they did. Labor laws protect us ultimately, and if you have to go to war, you go to war. It isn't easy. I got a complaint to my boss, and I referenced the law. Living in California, I can get fired without reason, but fortunately, I still have this job, but I would gladly lose it and take it to the courts for my beliefs.
We have to walk the walk. Not just for ourselves, but for the others out there who need the examples. Satanists have so many bad examples to overcome, because our path is confusing to a Right Hand Path world. It is not for everyone, but it might be for you. See what you're made of; you might be pleasantly surprised.
