Void Meditation Question

Hello,

Void meditation is a challenge for me, I'm one of those people that lives in their heads and used to day dream a lot. Which I'm working on a lot to cut out and get my mind under control, it's a loose cannon and difficult to shut off.

One thing I've tried is to focus on my breathing while doing void meditation, it helps me stay focused. However, I'd like some feedback on if this is a good practice or not. Even though it helps me to focus now, will it turn into a crutch that will hinder my future progress?

One other thing that seemed to help me was to make void meditation even harder by sitting in a slightly uncomfortable position, then going to a comfortable position later the void meditation was much easier. Anyone have some feedback on these things or any tips to help improve void meditation and get this mind under control?

I think the only method is the one that works for ourselves... the breath thing to stay focused is a good idea in my opinion, there's nothing wrong to find a beginnig shortcut to gain confidence with a new pratice... I am sure you'll not need it anymore as you become more skilled, so don't worry about the eventual and future side effects of this tricks you're now using to get the final goal... I use to focus on the "now and here" as each second passes by for example, and find it really useful! I honestly confess that had the same idea about focusing on breath, and found it really good and working after trying it... a good method always evolves and changes with yourself
