Training yourself to "be there" comfortably is related to Void Meditation, but its not the same thing. Set up two chairs facing each other, so that your legs are almost touching each other when your sitting there with another person. Just sit their and look into each others eyes and do not break eye contact. Do not move, do not fidget in the chair, do not look away, speak, don't excessively blink, don't fall asleep etc. If your eyes start watering, or hurting, too bad. Just sit there, comfortably. See, if you experience any type of distractions, desires to leave the chair, upset, whatever. I'd be willing to bet it will drive you up the wall. So, then do it, but this time, close your eyes. This is one step easier. Just "be there". All sorts of weird stuff will occur. If you force yourself to just sit their like in void meditation and not allow it to effect you, it will go away. Usually it takes anywhere from 4 to 8 hours. Starting out, shoot for 1 hour without stopping. Work your way up to 3 hours if possible. It could take longer than 8 hours to stop the discomfort and weird things from triggering. You don't want to stop until you hit a flat point, where the current phenomenon driving you nuts, goes away. You should be able to sit there for a couple of hours and not be bothered by anything. You will notice a very significant improvement in your ability to meditate and it will have a positive and profound effect on you spiritually.
