The USSR fell on its own it never recovered from the Second War which left it destroyed and isolated in a situation it couldn't compete with the west. The reforms that the last Soviet leader brought in were an attempt to reboot the USSR economically which required certain social reforms that unleashed a wave of events that lead to its end. The big one was Gorbachev removed the Brezhnev act which allowed for the rise of massive democratic protests to sweep the Warsaw Pact nations who hatred the USSR and wanted out being held hostage to Moscow. Without the act of the Brezhnev act the Communist parties simply folded up and handed things over to the new governments and ran for their lives. Only the Romanian Communist dictator sent in the Romanian Army to suppress the uprising and it failed totally. He ended up being executed along with his wife by the new government.
In Russia the KGB and Party elements tried to overthrow the Gorbachev government but failed with the munity of the Red Army and against a poplar uprising. Gorbachev signed a decree allowing the Warsaw Pact nations the right to determine if they wanted to stay in the USSR they voted to leave and the USSR dissolved as a political entity. You see this everywhere People went into the streets because they knew this was the only chance they had to topple the Communist state and become free. They had nothing left to lose and years of pent up rage against this oppressive system.
The Yehuborim have been trying to bring back the Communist system in Russia. The Yehubor Putin stated he wanted to recreate the USSR in a neo-Soviet model and the Yehubor Dugin's place is to create the ideology which can make this happen. They did not collapse this on purpose.
