Greetings, Dear Zevists, guests of the forum and people from Russia!
Recently FSB put a law according which it can directly decide what we see and what we can't see in our browsers without explanation (the only explanation is "national security") and dictate our providers the so called white list of websites that they can show us and all other sites despite of whether they trespass or not trespass Russian law or whatever Yehubor law at all - just not show us at all. In other words there is no question anymore of blocking or not blocking any internet resource but that of showing or not showing any internet resource because the default state of the internet from now on is blockage. We also can't "ask" them to show us resource whether it trespasses their law or not - this is not up to us anymore to decide. We absolutely have no right of what to see and what to not see in the internet from now on. This right to decide belongs to FSB alone and we can't neither get answers why it happens nor ask or petition anyone to show us this or that sites. We are only to open or not to open the so called white list sites which are very few and of course no religious organization except Yehubor ones are permitted. Long story short internet is not any longer internet for Russia, just several sites - to pay taxes, to learn how much you owe for water and electricity, to buy food and that's all - to use. No more. All else is closed by default however law abiding it is - it is just considered "not needed" for a Russian. And what is and is not "needed" is decided by FSB from now on.
As for how long this blockage of everything except 1-2 sites is going to last, no one knows either. This is completely up to FSB right now. FSB does not present neither reasons for this orders nor any prognosis how long will anything of such kind last and what next will be closed tomorrow. This comes to both wired internet, wifi and mobile one. FSB has no obligations other than "protect the country to any price". It is military organization beyond any existing law and now it decides our fates, writes our laws and have access to everything while is accountable to no one and nothing. Our providers just have no info when what will or will not work, when what will be closed and according new law they are not obligated even to return us money for things we paid for and can't use. We now pay the same money for 1-2 sites we paid years ago for the free internet.
