Hello All!
Well, I received a fair amount of interest, so I went ahead and got my Ventrilo set up for this group, and the adult group to join. PLEASE DO NOT POST THIS INFORMATION IN THE TEENS4SATAN GROUP - Adult topics are constantly being discussed and adult language is always being used, which would not be appropriate for members under the age of 18.
Below you will find a small write-up on how to use Ventrilo and how to connect to the server. If you already have Ventrilo and know how to use it, the information is:
Hostname/IP: chicago2.nationvoice.com
Port: 4454
Server Password: Mulciber (It IS case sensitive)
If you are new to Ventrilo, or just want to make sure you are doing everyone right, here is what you need to do in order to connect to the server and start chatting with your fellow Satanists.
Go to www.ventrilo.com and download the client that is right for you, e.g. the 64-bit version if you are running 64 bit, 32 if you run 32, etc.
Install the program and then run it.
When Ventrilo opens, you will have 3 fields: Username, Server, and Bindings. You can leave bindings alone, you don't need to do anything with that to use the program. Click on the small arrow that is next to Username. It will open up a window that will have "new", "clone", "delete", and 3 fields below that. Ignore the fields, and simply click "new". You will be prompted to put in a username - this is the name that everyone on the server will see. Put in whatever you would like, and click OK. As I said, ignore the rest of the fields, and click OK on the bottom to save your username.
Next, click on the small arrow next to server. A window very similar to the last one you were in will pop up, and will have similar "new", "clone", and "delete" buttons. Click on 'new', and you will be prompted to give a server name - this can be anything you want e.g. JoS vent, Satan Vent, jews SUCK - whatever you would like. Once you input the name, the fields below will need to be filled out with the information I provided above. Don't worry about 'default channel', or any of the little click boxes on the bottom, unless you have used Ventrilo before and know what they do. Click OK to save the server.
You are almost done! All you have to do now is setup your audio options. Click on "Setup" on the right hand side, with all the other buttons. This will open up a pretty big page with a BUNCH of options - don't worry, it's really not that hard. You will have 5 checkboxes right at the top of the page, saying "enable outgoing communications" and a couple other things. Make sure the first 3 boxes are checked, skip the 4th, and check the 5th. Under the checkboxes is a larger box that says "hotkey", this is the key that you will use to activate your microphone so people can hear you talking. I would suggest a key that you don't constantly use while typing or playing games, etc.(Mine is caps lock). Directly to the right of the checkboxes, are two fields for "input device" and "output device". They have drop down boxes for you to select what hardware you are using for each device. Input device is your microphone, Output device is your headphones or speakers. Choose the correct device for each one, and then make sure the "use direct sound" checkbox is checked above INPUT ONLY.
In the bottom left corner you will find a "test with" area.
Choose Speex as the codec and then choose a decent quality(5 or better). You can then click on the test button, to make sure you are able to hear yourself and your mic is working.(You will have to hold down your 'hotkey' while you talk) If your voice seems low or is a little hard to hear, directly to the right of the test area is a set of slider bars, for input and output. Sliding the input bar to the right will increase the volume of your voice, while the output bar will increase the volume of those you are speaking to.
You are now ready to click OK, and then click 'connect' on the main Ventrilo screen. You will enter the server and see a main JoS lobby and several other channels devoted to side, private conversations. Just double click on the channel to move into it. (So if you see Joy of Satan Lobby(General chat room), all you have to do is double click on it, and you will move into that channel.
Everyone is welcome to use the vent and enjoy it. It is currently a pretty small server with only 10 slots, but if everyone really likes to use it and there seems to be a lot more demand I will have no problem upgrading it to a 50 slot or something like that. Anyway, everyone enjoy it, and if you need help with anything just ask 'hg'!
